A little update

 Hi lovely family and friends, we just wanted to give a little update on how things have been this last couple of weeks.   We settled well in our lovely little cottage in Marple Bridge and it really is a great little place to be as an alternative to home.  Our little gits (doggies) are getting two walks a day as its so easy just to step out and walk around Brabyns Park or the Roman Lakes or the beautiful Marple Locks.  If we did not love Cornwall so much we could live here!    The thing that's missing is the sea of course and that's a biggie given we have both started to love going in with all the other mad hatters that we love.

So Gail's first Chemo took all day for the infusions and then she came home with a slow release 48 hour pump.  She kept forgetting it was attached to her and her language was choice at times 😬  But she did well with it all until a few days later when it really hit her in the tummy and she had to be admitted to Hospital with chemo toxicity.  They kept her for two days and sorted her out, they were wonderful and lots of drug infusions later she was released.  They were glad to see the back of her and I was glad to see the front of her !!

The plan going forward is that her next treatment is delayed by a week and they are taking out one of the drugs.    So given the delay, we are on our way home again for this coming week returning Monday 21st ready for the next one.   

We continue to stay positive and most of all we continue to appreciate all of the love and support of you beautiful people.  We honestly could not do this without knowing everyone is there and rooting for us.

We are coming home !

 Hi Family and Friends, well we have been given a weeks grace in between diagnostic appointments and Gail's Treatment which is now scheduled to start 2nd April.     Yes there has been a bit of a delay and we were feeling a bit low about it having to have another endoscopy which is now going to be tomorrow (Thursday 20th March) and not being able to get a PET Scan until 28th March which took us beyond the initial treatment date which would have been due to start next week.  If the dates are buzzing around in your heads, we completely understand, trying to keep track of what day it is when in this process, is hard work in it-self. Gail did some work on trusting the Universe and it has paid up, in that, the PET Scan has now been brought forward to Saturday 22nd and we can both come home later that day and not have to return until Monday 31st March.  This is the exact gap in our accommodation which we were going to cover with me coming home  alone with the...

 Hi all our dearest, we hope this finds you well and enjoying the exceptional sunny days we are having!  Gail had her 3rd Chemo Wednesday7th May and it went well, supported by our amazing girls Ang and Emma, who have committed to come up from Portishead every 2 weeks to support.   Gail was more tired this time and today (Sunday) has not been the best day with tummy grips and tiredness, which we expect but its not nice as many of you beautiful people know from personal experience.  My heart goes out to her and to everyone ever having to have chemo, its necessary and we are embracing it, but its pretty shitty too!  We have an end game and so Gail is going to tolerate it with all her might and with everyone around us, its so much easier.   What's great is she has managed to get to 3 Man City Matches with her bro over the last few weeks.   I had a week at home last week, knowing Gail was in good hands staying with her mom and needing to have...

16/03/2025 Update

Hello lovely family and friends, we have found a new way to give updates on our situation by providing a blog  with a link to you all through what's app so that you can choose whether to read or not. We are currently in a lovely holiday rental,  Goyt Cottage in Marple Bridge and feel very much at home.  We can walk to the little high street which has some lovely food shops, cafe's and pubs and the wonderful Brabyns Park,  just 5 minutes away where the doggies are enjoying running around and playing.  Given we are so far away from home, this location and home does make it feel easy and we are settling. We are busy trying to find a furnished rental in this area as its close to the hospital and in a place that we like, but its not easy.  I am just pursing a potential let for 6 months although would hope they would let us rent for 3 months initially and another 3 if we need it.
